Review of the NY Climate Week 2024
Back from Climate Week in New York, Arved Lüth and Sarah Bollinger bring back many exciting impressions. One key topic: Europe is recognised worldwide as a pioneer in sustainability. EU regulations such as the CSRD, the CSDDD and the EU taxonomy were frequent topics of conversation – including among US companies that are affected by European regulation.
The good news: Action is being taken on everything from regenerative agriculture to scaling innovative technologies to decarbonising the energy sector. Companies around the world, including major players, are showing a great thirst for action and the dialogue at eye level gives cause for optimism.
Many questions remain unanswered, but the outlook remains optimistic. Another important topic: Article 6 of the Paris Climate Agreement, which regulates the voluntary trading of CO₂ certificates, remains on the agenda. We are looking forward to COP 29 in Baku in November and hope that the momentum for cooperation and urgency will continue.
