Consequential costs of climate change

By 2050, climate change could result in consequential costs of 900 billion euros in Germany. This is shown by the new study commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economics.

The study examined the weather-related damage to date and the economic consequences of future events. From 2000 to 2021, consequential costs of at least 145 billion euros have already been incurred, 80 billion of which since 2018 alone. Nature based solutions such as the preservation of forests and peatlands could help reduce the costs of climate change by up to 80%.
