What is the EU taxonomy?
The EU Taxonomy is a system for classifying sustainable economic activities. It is the centrepiece of the EU Action Plan on Financing Sustainable Growth. With this regulation, the EU aims to create more transparency and a common understanding surrounding sustainable economic activities. Companies and financial institutions are required to report on which of their business activities are environmentally sustainable.

Who is affected by the EU Taxonomy:
To whom does it apply?
1. Financial market participants providing financial products.
2. Companies that are obliged to publish non-financial statements (NFRD), which are subject to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) from the 2024 reporting year onwards
3. In perspective for all companies that fall under the CSRD
(from 2026 for the reporting year 2025 for companies with more than 250 employees, total assets of more than 25 million euros or revenues of more than 50 million euros*,
from 2027 for the reporting year 2026 for listed SMEs, small and non-complex credit institutions and captive insurance companies)
*Two of the three criteria must be met.
